beaver creek i do’s

Sorry we’re one day late on this Wedding Wednesday post, but after you see this serious wedding eye-candy, you will forgive us.

I was lucky enough to work this gorgeous wedding with my boss ~ the Meg Stepanek of Gemini Event Planning.

Julie and Steven, the beautiful, young couple met at the Ritz Carlton, Bachelor Gulch, he proposed at the Ritz Carlton, Bachelor Gulch and they were married at {you guessed it}…the Ritz Carlton, Bachelor Gulch.

From Julie {the bride}…We wanted our wedding day to be intimate, elegant and in line with the beautiful Bachelor Gulch environment that we had as our backdrop. I really wanted the wedding to feel sophisticated, but also romantic. It was very important to me that the beautiful colors of the area during the summer (the lush green trees, the bright, playful wildflowers, etc.) all had a role during the wedding day.

I also wanted the guests to feel like they were celebrating with our families – who had also developed a close relationship with each other in these same mountains. Steven and I met each other in Colorado {both our families have homes in the area}, and we developed a shared love for the area and the Ritz throughout the years. It is our second home, which made it very special for us to get to become engaged and married in this place that feels so comfortable to both of us!

The bride was truly a sight to see with her Reem Acra gown and Giuseppe Zanotti shoes.

Julie and Steven’s wedding day was a beautiful, blue-sky summer day. The two were overjoyed to see one another for the first time on the skiers bridge at the Ritz before they said I do in front of 200 family and friends.

The white tent set-up for the ceremony at the base of the Bachelor Gulch mountain was absolutely breathtaking. Guests savored every moment under the draped tent as Julie walked down the long, carpeted aisle, escorted by her mom and dad to meet her groom under the hand-made huppah.

Guests sipped on “pear”-fect martini’s during cocktail hour on the Ritz patio.

A transformed ballroom awaited guests inside the Ritz and It’s gonna be a good night, by the Black Eyed Peas, set the tone for the fun celebration as the bride and groom were announced as husband and wife.

Crystals hung from the chandeliers for that perfect sparkle, the tall and short arrangements of hydrangeas, roses, calla lilies, larkspur, orchids, fern shoots, tea roses and hanging amaranthus in a palette of eggplant, purple, champagne and chartreuse were absolutely gorgeous, the candlelight was so romantic and the band – WOW. I became a groupie of the phenomenal L.A.based band, L.A. All Stars, in just one night. 🙂

And, the party didn’t end there – the couple hosted an after party in another transformed ballroom that resembled a chic, trendy night club. Guests sipped on cocktails, danced and conversed with Julie and Steven in comfortable lounge areas and enjoyed “late night” snacks.

no ordinary guest book

Every bride wants a unique wedding. And the guest book is no exception. Spruce it up a bit. Surprise your guests. Do something memorable.

See if any of these ideas fit your fancy.

Art Canvas
Getting married at a museum? Enjoy art? Have your guests each add their own “little” piece of artwork that will be a part of the “bigger” picture on a blank canvas, and hang in your home ~ it will be your first artwork as a couple.

Puzzle Board
I am in love with this idea. Each guests picks up a card with a small image on one side and blank on the other, writes a note, and finds its exact spot on a “peg board” {or a board with nails} to “complete the puzzle.” It’s so creative, and what a fun piece of art for your home.

Vintage Skis
I had a good friend who married her sweetie in Steamboat. They had their guests sign vintage skis, which would later be used as decor in their home. Fabulous idea.

Vintage Typewriter
Jenna used our grandparents antique typewriter for her guest book to coincide with her “vintage glamour” wedding. Guests typed a message and she compiled all the pages in an antique book for a memorable keepsake. See the rest of her gorgeous and vintage wedding here.

Photo Book
We were married in Beaver Creek, Colorado and wanted our guest book to reflect the place where we got married, and we wanted it to be something we didn’t store away in a box. So, we asked our guests to sign pages filled with photgraphs of beautiful mountain landscapes taken by renown Colorado photographer, John Fielder. The Mountain Ranges of Colorado book now sits on our coffee table and the sweet words remind us of that special day.

Anniversary Messages
CasaSugar had a great idea to have guests write messages in a book for future anniversaries. You could even assign each table a different anniversary year {1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc} and each year you and your hubby can read your guests words of advice.

Photo Booth
We love the vintage photo booths that produce a photo strip of 5 black and white images within minutes that guests can tape in a scrapbook along with a note…but this takes it a step further and it’s so fun! Set up an actual photo booth with chairs, empty frames and even props {mustaches, hats, glasses, etc} for people to pose.

totally totes

If you have guests traveling to your wedding, it’s a nice gesture to surprise them with a “welcome bag” upon arrival to their hotel. You can get creative with these and make them unique to you and your fiance, the city where you live or the place your going to say “I do.”

We have some fabulous ideas below with adorable totes {that would work for any city you’re getting married in} that I want to buy for myself!

If you’re from NYC, treat your guests to a copy of The New York times, along with black and white cookies from the Black and White Cookie Company and don’t forget a sugary snack from Dylan’s Candy Bar. This To Have and To Hold Tote, from Melangerie Inc. is the perfect bag to hold your items.

If you have roots in Chicago, fill this Custom Map Tote from Map Tote with samples of the famous Garrett’s Popcorn, travel-size Frango mints and a match box from your favorite Chicago-area restaurant.

P.S. All of us Colorado folk have to wait for our state to be represented…until then, this west coast tote will do just fine.

And, if you’re from the Rocky Mountains {or getting married in the mountains}, pack your welcome bag with goodies like Mountain Man’s Purple Mountain Majesty nut and fruit mix, bags of Boulder Chips, Coors or Fat Tire beer, Vail Mountain Coffee and Tea and all the essentials needed for the “morning after” a big party {and the high altitude} – a custom-made water bottle filled with Advil and Emergen-C.

The PERFECT bag for all these local favorites…a tote from The Wedding Chicks with the phrase Love…at a Mile High. My BFF Shannon and her hubby Bryan came up with this idea for their guests attending their Denver wedding…and I love it. Here’s Shannon sporting the tote on her honeymoon. Looks good on you girl!

Another cute idea for a Rocky Mountain wedding is to fill straw cowboy hats with custom gifts. Guests at Katie and Chips wedding, in Beaver Creek, Colorado, enjoyed “ear snacks,” which were the couple’s favorite songs saved to a USB drive, water and snacks, along with a welcome letter and activity guide. Guests wore their hats for the rehearsal – so cute!

traveling couple

A little creativity and artistry, combined with two beautiful subjects = gorgeous snapshots!

I was so impressed with this engagement photo session – I wanted to share it with all of you. Jacey and Grant were kind enough to share some of their engagement photos with us, and a little behind the scenes info.

I have become friends with the two fashionable and fun love birds through one of my BFF’s, Shannon. They are getting hitched in a month or so and can’t wait to see their wedding pictures because I know they will be stunning. How beautiful is this couple? Seriously?!

Hard to choose a favorite, but I think my favorites are…the shot of their faces with the scrabble tiles, and the save the date postcard {at the very end of the post…saved the best for last}.

From Jacey…Grant and I both love travel and photography, so we drew inspiration for our engagement photo shoot from one of our favorite photographers, Slim Aarons. Our dear friend (and amazing photographer) Lauren Ross shot us in two locations.

First we shot at the Avalon Hotel in Beverly Hills because of its amazing poolside cabanas and great backgrounds. We felt this location mirrored the Slim Aarons aesthetic and we incorporated my vintage suitcases to show our love of travel.

Then we took the shoot back to our condo where we brought in our puppies, William and Polly. We’re a family and wanted to get a few shots of us goofing around. We also dressed up and wanted to look like we were running to a train (maybe for our honeymoon?) which we later used on our “Save The Date” postcard. Lauren was on the 2nd floor balcony shooting down into our courtyard for these shots.

o is for orange

It’s wedding week here at Tutto Bella. We love weddings and we’re in the midst of wedding season {personally and professionally}, so this week is dedicated to all-things weddings.

Cheers to Happily Ever After…

First, the bold and beautiful ORANGE at weddings. If you’re a citrus gal {or guy}, you can find ways to incorporate it in everything for your wedding day.

Decor
This unique sculptural grid at this reception table displayed orange ‘Milva’ Equadorian roses, bleached Mitsumata branches, white hydrangea and fresh oranges, along with a logo with the couple’s monogram and a horseshoe mounted on tangerine fabric. This is one gorgeous contemporary piece.

Place cards
These are such fun place cards and the color combination of the orange and blue and white stripes is so striking together.

Bouquets
I love these modern bouquets and the different shades of orange in contract with the grey dresses, and the orange fruit is perfectly placed.

Centerpiece
The gorgeous arrangements below greeted guests at The Ritz Carlton, Bachelor Gulch in Beaver Creek, Colorado for the wedding of Andrea and Robert Callagy. This gorgeous, mountain wedding, coordinated by Meg Stepanek of Gemini Event Planning and photographed by the talented Liz Banfield, was featured in Town and Country Weddings magazine, 2004.

Floral designer Judy Stevenson used flowers to reflect the hues of the Rockies with blossoms in rich reds, oranges and browns set off by crisp white orchids. I love the eye-catching tall cylinder and coordinating small vase filled with clementines topped with flowers.
