styled shoot at cordillera

Frosted trees. White snow. Colorado’s natural beauty.
There’s definitely something to be said about love in the Rocky Mountains…

This styled shoot at The Lodge and Spa at Cordillera from fun and fabulous Colorado Wedding Photographers, Chris and Adrienne Scott Photography, will definitely have you feelin’ the love.

From Sarah, the stylist and coordinator of the shoot … My inspiration came from my pink rose silk scarf that kept me warm (during a visit to starbucks on a cold Colorado day) and a pinecone I found in my front yard. Though they are two different textures, colors, and tangible objects, I wanted to see the two come together in an elegant fashion. Because I live in Colorado, I wanted to take advantage of a mountain vendor [The Lodge and Spa at Cordillera] that allowed me to use my creativity and bring my idea to life. The overall look that I was going for was soft elegance meets the mountains. I was risking a lot due to the changing Colorado weather, but it turned out beautiful and the models were fantastic – despite the inch of snow that fell the night before!

This was me and my hubby’s very first styled shoot {I mean, who wouldn’t want to wear a wedding dress again?!}
What a great, fun and freezing experience it was! Enjoy 🙂

Colorado weather is unlike any other. The saying goes:
‘If you don’t like the weather, wait 10 minutes and it will change.’

But for their wedding on September 24, 2011, Lisa and Drew couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day at the Ritz-Carlton, Bachelor Gulch in the Rocky Mountains. Warm, sunny and surrounded by the amazing colors of fall – what else could a bride ask for?

In the bride’s words: The best part about the entire day was completely out of our control! The weather was magnificent, and the colors of the trees were unforgettable. We were so lucky!

For her mountain elegance themed wedding, Lisa was inspired by the rustic lodge at the Ritz Carlton, the outdoors, wood features and the forest animals.

In the bride’s words: I knew I wanted to have my wedding during fall and in the mountains.  After visiting Bachelor Gulch, it was so easy to say yes!  The Ritz felt warm, cozy and like I was right at home.

We are so love with the elegant simplicity and romantic details of this mountain wedding. Absolutely stunning!
Congratulations to the beautiful couple!

From the bride: I wanted to keep things simple, detailed and elegant.

a little place called durango

Ok so I have to start off with an apology. It is Fashion Friday and I am not posting about fashion today! (I promise to be back on track next week!) Shame shame!

I am in Durango this weekend with my husband, golden retriever, parents, sister and my niece and nephew for a wedding. I am in awe by the beauty of this place. I hope to post this special wedding with details in an upcoming post (congrats to my best childhood friend Stephanie & her fiancé Dave!).

For this of you who have never been to Colorado, or even better, lived here, this state holds beauty in landscape that cannot be explained … if you have not visited, you should someday in your lifetime. Have a happy weekend! We’ll be back on posting track Monday … 🙂

Sorry we’re one day late on this Wedding Wednesday post, but after you see this serious wedding eye-candy, you will forgive us.

I was lucky enough to work this gorgeous wedding with my boss ~ the Meg Stepanek of Gemini Event Planning.

Julie and Steven, the beautiful, young couple met at the Ritz Carlton, Bachelor Gulch, he proposed at the Ritz Carlton, Bachelor Gulch and they were married at {you guessed it}…the Ritz Carlton, Bachelor Gulch.

From Julie {the bride}…We wanted our wedding day to be intimate, elegant and in line with the beautiful Bachelor Gulch environment that we had as our backdrop.  I really wanted the wedding to feel sophisticated, but also romantic. It was very important to me that the beautiful colors of the area during the summer (the lush green trees, the bright, playful wildflowers, etc.) all had a role during the wedding day.

I also wanted the guests to feel like they were celebrating with our families – who had also developed a close relationship with each other in these same mountains. Steven and I met each other in Colorado {both our families have homes in the area}, and we developed a shared love for the area and the Ritz throughout the years.  It is our second home, which made it very special for us to get to become engaged and married in this place that feels so comfortable to both of us!

The bride was truly a sight to see with her Reem Acra gown and Giuseppe Zanotti shoes.

Julie and Steven’s wedding day was a beautiful, blue-sky summer day. The two were overjoyed to see one another for the first time on the skiers bridge at the Ritz before they said I do in front of 200 family and friends.

The white tent set-up for the ceremony at the base of the Bachelor Gulch mountain was absolutely breathtaking. Guests savored every moment under the draped tent as Julie walked down the long, carpeted aisle, escorted by her mom and dad to meet her groom under the hand-made huppah.

Guests sipped on “pear”-fect martini’s during cocktail hour on the Ritz patio.

A transformed ballroom awaited guests inside the Ritz and It’s gonna be a good night, by the Black Eyed Peas, set the tone for the fun celebration as the bride and groom were announced as husband and wife.

Crystals hung from the chandeliers for that perfect sparkle, the tall and short arrangements of hydrangeas, roses, calla lilies, larkspur, orchids, fern shoots, tea roses and hanging amaranthus in a palette of eggplant, purple, champagne and chartreuse were absolutely gorgeous, the candlelight was so romantic and the band – WOW. I became a groupie of the phenomenal L.A.based band, L.A. All Stars, in just one night. 🙂

And, the party didn’t end there – the couple hosted an after party in another transformed ballroom that resembled a chic, trendy night club. Guests sipped on cocktails, danced and conversed with Julie and Steven in comfortable lounge areas and enjoyed “late night” snacks.

wood fabulous

Wood has been my inspiration for this week’s Wedding Wednesday. Drew and I recently sent out our own wood invitations, and I wanted to take it one-step further and find more inspiration for the ‘rustic’ bride. Wood is so natural, texturized and elegant at the same time. It can be used throughout your decor, tables, gifts or stationery. I hope you too can find inspiration in these photos.

Wood Stump: a unique way to display family photos

Wood Wagon: adorable for your little flower girl or ring bearer to ride in

Wood Signage: fun details to use for directing guests or chair hangers

Wood Stands: use for your cake, place cards or at the bar

Wood Gift Box: perfect to hold your gifts

Wood Candles: intimate, rustic and romantic all at once

Wood Tables: a bold statement

Wood Stationery: for your invitation, program, place cards, table numbers or dinner menu

(we got our wood invites at Fleur de Lis – shown below)
