diy christmas art_jsorelle

On Friday, we announced a BIG DEAL from SilhouetteAmerica.com {promo code SORELLE} happening through Dec. 8. So, today we’re going to show you a little of what a Silhouette Portrait can do.

Today is also the start of j. sorelle’s 12 Days of Christmas. For 12 days, we have fun, creative and festive Christmas DIY projects, holiday party necessities and gift ideas for you!

Without further adieu…

On the first day of Christmas, j. sorelle gave to you…DIY Christmas art.

We’re dreamy for deer this time of year, and we love the nostalgic, fuzzy feelings we feel when we see a photo of a freshly cut Christmas tree strapped to the top of a red car. Now, we can display our favorite holiday images in our homes with our own Christmas Art. We call our art Deer Date, Merry Merry and Oh Joy

You’ll Need:

How To:
Step 1: Design and cut the art using your Silhouette Studio software and Portrait or CAMEO cutting machine. They have so many beautiful and fun artwork options you can purchase for .99 each. If you don’t have a Silhouette and want one for Christmas, check this out. And, if you don’t have access to a Silhouette, you can trace and use cut outs and pre-cut art.

Step 2: Use a paintbrush to paint Modge Podge on the back of each cut out and place on your blank canvas.

Step 3: Once all art is in place, find a place with really good ventilation and spray sealant on your art.

DIY Gift When Loved Ones Are Sick

feel better in a box

We love this time of year, but unfortunately that time of year is also here – the time for snot-nosed children with coughs running around, flu germs floating around and lurking on surfaces and aches and chills that keep us stuck inside and in bed all day. Well, there’s nothing like a little TLC and vitamin C to lift ones spirits…thus Feel Better in a Box was born. We shared all the feel-better details at Momtastic – to see all the goodness and natural ways to feel better, you must check it out.

Stay healthy this season!

weekend goodness

  1. Jessica’s idea of a really fun night out-on-the-town was to learn how to make pie, and it didn’t involve a single glass of vino. Her husband looked at her like she was slightly nuts when she said she wanted to drive 2 hours to a pie workshop. But with a love for apple pie {thanks to grandma} and a workshop hosted by Lexy with Proper Pinwheel in the mix, there was no stopping her. The party was featured on Style Me Pretty Living, and its worth checking out, plus it has a delicious apple pie recipe just in time for the holidays. You will see Jessica in a photo or two, and her pie, covered in hearts, of course.
  2. We read this blog post and wept. Not only was it beautifully written, but it broke our hearts and inspired us at the same time. It served as a reminder for us to appreciate the precious time we have with our families, to understand the miracle that our children are and what an honor it is to watch them grow, and how blessed our lives really are. Oren Miller, you and your family are in our prayers. You’re amazing.
  3. Make it a priority to Pay it Forward this holiday season like this young boy and father did. Get the tissues out…again.
  4. We’re obsessed with antler and deer decor this holiday season, and when combined with mixed metallics, gold, greenery, wood and wine, we are “head over deers.” This holiday craft party is absolutely gorgeous!
  5. Conni sets the table beautifully for Thanksgiving. Perhaps you can gather some ideas for your own Thanksgiving celebration?

Have a lovely weekend, and stay warm.

{free printable} I Spy Game for Thanksgiving

ispywithmylittleeye_jsorelle

One of our kid’s favorite games to play at the dinner table is I Spy. So this year, we’re happy to bring the tradition of I spy with my little eye to the Thanksgiving table. And, we’re also going retro with the use of a disposable camera. We can’t believe how ‘old school’ that seems with all the high-tech electronics nowadays. But for the kiddos, they can use and abuse the camera, and feel like a professional photographer for the evening, and you don’t have to worry about the state of your expensive phone. And, the best part of all – you can really see Thanksgiving through your children’s eyes. Don’t we all wish we could see the world through the eyes of our children on a daily basis – what a beautiful gift that would be?!

Fleur de Lis created a cute and FREE printable for you that you can download here.

If you’re up for a DIY, we made the little DIY pumpkin napkin ring from a shower curtain ring. We wrapped the shower curtain ring in yarn, used a hot glue gun to keep the ends of the yarn in place, and topped it with a small branch and raffia bow. It took about 5 minutes!
