Fall in a Basket Ideas

When a Silhouette America Portrait electronic cutting machine arrived at our door step, we literally leaped with joy! We know, who seriously reacts in such a way when an electronic cutting machine arrives? US! And, for good reason – the Silhouette is amazing. It takes our projects to a whole new level of creativity and endless possibility, and it’s a major time saver since it so perfectly cuts everything for us! It’s been a dream come true for us. Honestly, it was on Jessica’s Christmas list – and she will argue it was a NEED, but it was a WANT, a desperate want.

We have found it to be very user-friendly, and we love it. We don’t know what we ever did without it. We’ve made thank you cards, and some other fun projects we will reveal soon, but with the changing colors and the crisp air, a Fall in a Basket seemed appropriate…and too cute not to do.

Fall in A Basket Ingredients
A fall-inspired basket
Pumpkin Mason Jar {spray paint a vintage green mason jar orange, buy green lids designed for mason jars, find a small branch, cut and glue, then add a raffia ribbon}
Starbucks Via Pumpkin Spice Latte individual packet
Essie “she’s pampered” nail polish
Apple, caramel and a stick – the essentials to make a delicious caramel apple
A cinnamon stick garland {tie cinnamon sticks to twine to create the cutest garland ever}

And, of course, buy or use your Silhouette to print letters, “Happy Fall Y’all,” then use a hot glue gun to glue tiny clothes pins and the letters to the basket handle.

Thank You Cookie Scramble Gift

Can you unscramble the words in the title to this post?

The correct answer is: thank you.

We owed some very special people a thank you, so the kids and I got creative with our words. With delicious, homemade shortbread, and Ghiradelli chocolate as our base, and just a hint {in this case the hint word was, gratitude}, we created a cookie scramble ‘thank you’.

Freshly Picked Moccasins Giveaway

freshly picked moccasins_jsorelle

One of my best friends just welcomed her first child into the world. As I held her, I was reminded about how tiny, miraculous and fragile they are. I was just there two years ago with my own son, and yet, it felt like forever ago. When my children were babies, I was obsessed with their fingers and toes. I still think about the way my babies’ tiny hands wrapped around my finger tightly in the hospital room post birth, and the way they still reach for my hand as they cross the street. I think about the sound of pitter-patter steps across the floor a hundred miles an hour everyday, all day, and it makes my heart smile. The joy, laughter and love those tiny hands and feet, hearts and souls have brought into my life is priceless.

I pray those once tiny feet continue to grow and lead as they walk along the path of life. I pray they always take the time to feel the sand in between their toes, step forward with bravery and courage to lead others and always stand up for what is right. Sometimes our kids have big shoes to fill, but with guidance and love, I believe they can do it.

I also know those tiny feet are too cute and precious not to ‘dress up’ with well-made, and beautiful shoes.

Enter: Freshly Picked.

Let me just preface this story with the fact that we are big fans of Shark Tank at our house, so the name and product that is Freshly Picked, was not new to us {Susan scored a deal with Daymond of Shark Tank – see it here, 32:30}. So when the beautifully made, and adorable to boot, camo moccasins arrived at my house, it was exciting…and also a full circle moment for me. You see, Susan, the owner of Freshly Picked, has been an inspiration to me. Being a mama to her two kids, she was frustrated with the lack of well-made kids shoes. So with a little leather, determination, hard work and $200 behind her, she set out to make gorgeous, comfortable shoes. Well, she made it…and she’s a major success!

I’m a stay-at-home mom, and my love for all things pretty, detailed, party-related and yummy was my reason for inspiring my sisters to start a blog with me. With zero experience, money and time against us…and teamwork, hard work and passion on our side, we have taken this little ‘passion project’ to places we never thought. And, part of me still feels like it’s just the beginning of great things to come for the j. sisters. For us, if Susan can do it, she gives us hope that we can do it too.

Who knew little moccasins would spark such a reaction, huh? Maybe they will spark a reaction in you too…and you will have a chance to see what your reaction will be with a chance to win a FREE pair – giveaway is below.

My children recently had the opportunity of a lifetime to ‘play’ and discover real helicopters. What better place to debut our new pair of Camo Freshly Picked moccasins than among the professionals who wear camo on a daily basis? True story – the awesome military men noticed the shoes, commented on them…and loved them!

And, at the end of our amazing day…I think he thought he could really fly {while wearing really comfortable shoes}. And, no one told him otherwise. 🙂

If you follow us, you know we have almost 7 children between us. What you may or may not know is that all 3 of us chose to breastfeed our babies, experiencing the gamut of emotions – from joy to pain.  We wrote a humorous poem about our breastfeeding experience, which you can see here.  Here’s what we know to be true about breastfeeding…Some love it, others don’t, and some can’t do it {and its all ok}. It’s a personal decision and a really hot topic! It’s a lot of work {and can be quite painful}. It’s an amazing bonding time only you and your baby can share. And, it’s an unbelievable power that women possess.

To celebrate World Breastfeeding Week, and mothers everywhere, we created the perfect gift to give to a new mom – to save her, and her boobies as they adjust to breastfeeding. Welcome, Boob-Aid. A ‘kit’ that includes all the necessities – soothies gel, nipple butter, nursing pads, a water bottle and our funny poem. You can buy the label and get the poem as a FREE bonus here.

Alt Summit Video

I attended Altitude Summit in June. I. LOVED. IT.

As expected the business cards were beautiful and so creative. There were pretty parties and great attention to detail. The ‘high school girl syndrome’ of feeling like you have no friends and are totally awkward was re-lived all over again…only this time, there were no mean girls…just nice ones. Fashion was fabulous. Talent was out of this world. And, I learned A TON.

I am so grateful for my experience at Alt and really hope I make it back every year, and take both sisters with me.

Among the many, many things I learned, here’s 10 things I took from the Alt Summit {then be sure to watch the video at the end}…
1. Martha Stewart is not a b****, but rather like a beech tree
2. We need to hashtag everything.
3. I want the energy and positivity that radiates from Rachel of Handmade Charlotte {she is really talented too, so check out her site here}. And, fashion advice from pinfluencer Alexandra Evjen would be greatly beneficial too.
4. A lightbox will rock our instagram world {thanks @zelmarose and @sarahderagon} and help with my composition, consistency and color.
5. We need to find more creative ways to date our hubbies {thanks Camille at Fridays We’re In Love}.
6. Joy Cho of Oh Joy is just adorable and a fantastic business woman, and we can “create something from nothing.”
7. We want to work with Bing, The Honest Company , Silhouette and Wayfair on a regular basis.
8. Dream Big. Be Brave.
9. It’s time to collaborate y’all. We’re brainstorming ideas now Freshly Picked, Freckles in April, Shoes Off Please, Spitfire Girl, McCall of the Wild, Agnes & Dora, One Charming Party, LuLu the Baker, Yellow Bungalow Shop, Hillary Butler, Annie Reeves, One Little Minute Blog, The Alison Show, White Plum, Design Improvised, Pepper Design Blog, fellow Colorado gal Courtney Khail, Thrifty Littles, Happy Confetti, Planning Pretty, Petit Lemon, Leland Gal, and The Banner Shoppe…and all those who we didn’t get a chance to meet, but really wanted to {please, please introduce yourself}.
10. My dream job doesn’t exist, I must create it. Thanks Melissa at Best Friends for Frosting {so glad I met you during checkout with my kiddos running around}.

As we gathered together to talk about our special experience at Alt, we had our friend and wonderful photographer Meredith of Meredith Moran Photography bring her camera and handmade marquee letters {so so cute…you can buy them here} to capture it all on film…and say ‘thank you’ to everyone on the amazing Alt team.

Please take 1.5 minutes to watch our video. Enjoy!
