will you be my bridesmaid?

I am so the type of woman that makes something bigger than it needs to be. Instead of asking a simple question/favor of someone or buying a lovely gift, I obsess about the perfect gift or the most unique and elaborate way to ask a question. For me, it’s about taking that extra step to make something cute and memorable. It doesn’t have to be super elaborate or expensive – just personal and creative!

A perfect example is asking a friend to be a bridesmaid. It’s an honor to stand next to a dear friend on her wedding day and it’s a big commitment, so it’s an important question to ask. There’s nothing wrong with asking a girlfriend to be in your wedding face to face or with a simple card. But, I love the idea of taking it a step further…

Here are some adorable ways you can impress your maids {the first one is my new fave}…

horse shoe escort cards

I am so excited to share the first DIY project from my own wedding:
horse shoe escort cards.
Our wedding reception was at Crooked Willow Farms in Larkspur, Colorado.
A perfectly elegant and rustic venue for the all-Colorado wedding.

For my escort cards, we used pony {horse} shoes tied with raffia and a hand-calligraphied card by Christi Johnson {contact Fleur de Lis (a paperie) for contact info} and hung them onto an old, rustic door.
Not only was it a fun DIY project, but the photos turned out AMAZING!
{And, horse shoes are lucky! Not a bad thing to be lucky in love, either!}
Thank you Cori Cook Floral Design for the photos!

Materials
{pony shoes from a local warehouse/horse shoe manufacturer, escort cards from Fleur de Lis (a paperie), calligraphy from a local Colorado calligrapher, raffia from Hobby Lobby}

Assembly Team
Wonderful fiancé, mother, sisters, aunts, fabulous bridesmaids and a few bottles of wine is all you need for an assembly team 🙂
{Thanks to everyone who helped me! xoxo}

green wedding day

If you haven’t noticed, this week is all about being green. All this color green is inspiring us to say I do {or dream of saying I do} in Ireland surrounded by the beautiful green landscape. Or, just being in Ireland to cheers one another with a cold glass of Guinness…followed by photos with the famous beer mustache.

For all you Irish love birds:

May your mornings bring joy and your evenings bring peace.
May your troubles grow few as your blessings increase.
May the saddest day of your future
Be no worse than the happiest day of your past.
May your hands be forever clasped in friendship
And your hearts joined forever in love.
Your lives are very special,
God has touched you in many ways.
May his blessings rest upon you
And fill all your coming days.

engagement video session

We are so excited to share this engagement DVD from up-and-coming Colorado wedding photographer Meredith Moran Photography! Meredith is a wonderful, creative, talented, and sweet person and professional. We’ve certainly never seen a video like this before, and we hope this brings new inspiration for you in sharing your engagement with others 🙂

This video is of an adorable engaged couple Mary Beth + Joe. Enjoy!

[vimeo http://vimeo.com/37566189]

From the photographer: While I love capturing a story through photos, I wanted to offer couples a unique way to tell their story.  Incorporating places & things they like to do together in a video form allows us to see the little details that you might not get with a photo – how they engage with each other & the surroundings of their favorite spots, the playful joking around, the flirting in action … the stuff that makes you say ‘aww!’

Here are a few ideas for how couples can use their engagement DVD:
{1} a cute save-the-date for guests to watch
{2} an added feature to the wedding website
{3} a background video at an engagement party
{4} an adorable movie feature at a rehearsal dinner
{5} of course, something special for the couple to keep forever

Meredith offers an ‘a la carte’ where couples can get a photo or video engagement session, or both! Pricing for a photo/video package is $400 for up to 5 hours in the Denver area {additional charges for a location outside of Denver}

Meredith can do video sessions for:
{1} engagement sessions
{2} wedding dress shopping
{3}  bridal/couples/baby shower
{4} photojournalistic capture of wedding day
{5} memorable family footage
… you name it!

Visit her website for more information, details and packages.
