before and after

We have a seriously gorgeous feature for you of before and after wedding decor photos {we have more in the coming weeks, so stay tuned for more eye candy}. You will see the “before and after” images of a ballroom or tent before Denver-based Rodd Metcalf and his premier event team at LMD Productions Inc. arrive to make an ordinary space extraordinary.

I’ve had the privilege of working with Rodd on several events, and he and his staff are phenomenal and a joy to work with.

Today’s tent before & after feature are WOW photos, so be ready to be amazed.

Here’s a little background for you: The bride originally wanted a Hunt Club Design. It morphed beautifully into an old English style décor with warm hues of light. This event took 7 days to set up and 3 days to teardown…and it took 4 generators to power this event.

In Rodd’s words: ” This was a very challenging event.  It was very successful with a great response from the client and guests.  Overall I enjoyed it and would welcome an event of this magnitude again.  Let’s hear it for lighting, fabric and flowers!”

taste the rainbow

Well, we’ve taken the melting candy project to another level since our peppermint DIY serving tray back in December.
This time around, we used Jolly Ranchers … and we are loving the results!
How cute is this rainbow tray for St. Patty’s Day?!

All you need is:
Jolly Ranchers {I used about half of the large bag}
A cookie sheet
Wax {or parchment} paper
Pennies
{or other decorative items – I think marshmallows would be adorable to use as clouds in place of pennies!}

How to:
Pre-heat oven to 200 degrees
Line the cookie sheet with wax paper
Decorate Jolly Ranchers in a rainbow shape
Bake for approximately 12 minutes
{time may vary depending on altitude, thickness of cookie sheet, ect – keep an eye on it!}

Take Note:
The wax paper may get a little smoky while baking in the oven… just keep an eye on it!
{check every two minutes or so}
The center candies may not melt as quickly as the outside. I took it out when the outside candies were properly melted and left the candy on the cookie sheet – the inside candies slowly melted from the heat of the cookie sheet.
If you have imperfections, don’t sweat it. Carefully glaze the outside of your shape with a sharp knife.
Wait until your tray cools to peel wax paper off of the bottom. I kept mine on at the bottom to avoid stickiness while carrying.
Feel free to experiment with a sealant to solve the sticky issues. (I have not tried a sealant before}

May you have all the happiness
and luck that life can hold—
And at the end of all your rainbows
may you find a pot of gold!

time to tango

Exciting news in the world of color…The Pantone 2012 Color of the Year is Pantone 17-1463 Tangerine Tango.

So, what’s our take on Tangerine Tango…it’s bold, but we like it and after creating these inspiration boards, we are on the verge of loving it. Though orange is not our favorite color, splashes of it are bold and dramatic, and beautiful. And, this spirited reddish-orange can inspire and uplift all areas of your life – home, fashion and your walk down the aisle.

Just like Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute® said, “Reminiscent of the radiant shadings of a sunset, Tangerine Tango marries the vivaciousness and adrenaline rush of red with the friendliness and warmth of yellow, to form a high-visibility, magnetic hue that emanates heat and energy.”
