nye place to be

Talented designer and a bestie of mine, Kimi Hansen, Sales, Marketing & Design Specialist for Après Party and Tent Rental, and her wonderful boyfriend Tim, hosted a gorgeous soiree for 30 of their closest friends to ring in 2012.

This couple is the best host and hostess – their level of taste is exquisite and they plan nothing but the best for their loved ones. Plus, with both of them being in the event industry {Tim Geisler, General Manager of EMI Audio, a lighting, sound and video company in Minnesota}, they have a party planner’s dream access to decor pieces.

The pink and purple lighting blended perfectly with their white and silver decor and table setting. The party was potluck style. The signature drink of the evening was made with vodka, champagne and Kinky {blood orange liqueur}. And guests were treated with ALL homemade desserts including 2012 cookies, drizzled pretzels, puff corn, cake balls and adorable melted snowmen cookies. Kimi and Tim even used a couple of Tutto Bella NYE party tips – a shiny 2012 display on the wall, along with “bubbly” balloons and countdown numbers on their cocktail glasses. They added snowflake sticks to each drink so people could personalize…very cute! And we love the bling and candlelight on the table!

Thanks for sharing your party with us Kimi and Tim! We wish you all the best in 2012.

We love to receive party submissions…so if  you or someone you know have hosted a fabulous party, please send photos our way…we would love to feature it.

party like it’s 2012

Reflection of 2011 and resolutions for 2012 is upon us with the upcoming New Year’s Eve celebration. It’s been a wonderful year for my family and me and I can only hope 2012 is filled with as much laughter, joy and good memories as 2011 blessed us with.

Start the year off with a fabulous party…with shades of pink and gold. Here are some fun ideas to add to your New Year’s Eve shindig. Now you just have to decide…who’s the lucky lad {or lady} you’re gonna kiss at midnight?

DIY Gold Mason Jars: We have serious mason jar love. These DIY spray painted gold mason jars are the perfect vase for pink flowers or pink-and-white-striped straw holder for your New Year’s Eve bash. Directions for how to spray paint can be found at 100 Layer Cake.

Strawberry Champagne Sparkler Cupcakes: When I saw these on Oprah several years ago, I just knew I had to include them on my next New Year’s Eve menu. So festive with the indoor-safe sparkler candle, and who doesn’t love the combination of cupcakes, champagne, strawberries and chocolate! Sign me up for one {or two of these}. Recipe and directions found here.

2012 Sign: Love the idea of adding a 2012 sign at your party made of wooden numbers covered in gold or pink coins or sequins like the LOVE sign above. It can be a DIY project that is sure to impress.

Shiny Centerpiece: Crate a glimmering centerpiece by sprinkling pink or gold oversized sequins between two cylinders and nestle a votive candle inside. Visit Martha Stewart to see where her team found the products to create this shimmering look. Or, add gold ornaments to glass vases and flutes in varying styles, and cluster them on a cake stand to craft a truly stunning and effortless centerpiece just like Martha Stewart did here.

Wall Decor: Use shimmering gold paper {leftover from Christmas would make this a budget-friendly project} to make streamers like this. Or, hang pink accordion circles above your dessert table and modify them by turning them into New Year’s Eve clocks. This great idea and how-to details can be found at Fiskars. For champagne-like wall decor, add different sized gold and clear balloons to the wall above the champagne table to create the bubbly effect on the wall.

Champagne: You must have champagne when you throw a New Year’s Eve party, but spruce it up a bit this year with fun and cold {just like the air outside} popsicles to serve up fancy frozen fruit pops. Don’t forget a splash of Prosecco for a colorful and unique drink display. Add sticker numbers to each glass for an official countdown beginning with 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 and 1!

Dessert: In addition to the Strawberry Champagne Sparkler Cupcakes, make smore’s with a dusting of gold edible sprinkles. More gold inspiration found at The Cake Blog. And, you will really wow your guests with homemade fortunes. Give your guests something to talk about and look forward to with homemade fortunes {all positive of course} using your favorite quotes. For directions on how to make the fortune cookies and how to insert the fortune, visit Alisa Burke.

Favors: Give your guests a mini bottle of champagne in a bucket with a straw so it can be iced all night and passed out before midnight. Chris from Celebrations at Home has some great ideas to decorate the bucket.

I gotta feeling…2012 is gonna be a good, good year.

Real Housewives of Denver Bachelorette Party Ideas, Part 2

{continued…}

The erotic food was home-made and delicious.

For dessert, we offered Orgasmic Desserts – cupcakes with custom-made toppers {from Fleur de Lis, a paperie}, Jodi’s favorite candy Milk Duds, cinnamon bears and Red Vines. And, it wouldn’t be complete without a male body-part {the naughty body part) cake. 🙂

The stocked bar was a popular gathering spot for the ladies. Vodka cranberry, SkinnyGirl Margarita created by a housewife of New York City, Bethenny Frankel and red and white wine. And, water in between drinks was essential to help us with our hangover. Custom labels were designed by none other than Jenna, at Fleur de Lis, a paperie.

Every gal received fabulous party fare. Animal print bandannas stuffed inside personalized cups were essentials for the night ~ a cup to drink in one hand, and the bandanna on the lap to prevent stains on our festive outfits from the yummy food.

And, inside vintage cigar boxes lined with cheetah print, were animal print goody bags that contained hair spray for new jersey-style big hair, a condom, a recipe from real housewife of New Jersey, Therese Guidice cookbook, appropriately titled “the quickie,” and gum for minty fresh breath for
our evening out on the town.

You can never have enough animal print. Pillows from Jodi’s bed at home-made for a wild and cozy addition on the couch.

Between the drinks, decor, food, naughty and nice games and a video {made with love and A LOT of time from Jenna} a mini-dance party, a surprise limo and stop at an all male revue late in to the night and early morning ~ it was a party to remember.

Real Housewives of Denver Bachelorette Party

It’s time for our big bachelorette party reveal.

Jodi is obsessed with Bravo’s reality show Real Housewives…especially Real Housewives of New Jersey. So, we based our decor around real housewives, attitude, animal print, bling and jersey. It was lovingly referred to as Real Housewives of Denver.

The invite, designed by Fleur de Lis, a paperie, set the tone for a fun and fabulous Real Housewives night out for the ladies!

Jodi, our beautiful bachelorette shined all night in this BCBG sparkling dress.

The bridesmaids played their “real” housewives part too. Everyone dressed in their best animal print and bling, and posed {just like the real housewives do} for snapshots on the balcony.

Every gal needed that extra sparkle to get the party started. So, we asked each one to pick up extra bling…a ring pop!
The ‘welcome’ table greeted everyone with Real Housewives-themed vases. One vase was full of oranges to represent Real Housewives of Orange County, one vase contained peaches to represent Real Housewives of Atlanta, another vase shined with sparkly gems to represent Real Housewives of New Jersey, another vase was full of apples for Real Housewives of New York City and the final vase contained a bottle of Coors Light to represent the newest reality show of the night, Real Housewives of Denver.

A manican, weighted with a pom, and adorned with a zebra print belt, was the perfect ‘holder’ for Jodi’s hat of the evening, a cowboy hat decorated with a zebra band and a veil. Gems lined the table, and one of my favorite details on the table – photos edited with our faces. Jodi was the feature in the Rolling Stone magazine cover (formerly Jessica Simpson}, crowned housewife of the year. And, the bridesmaid faces replaced existing characters of the Real Housewives of New Jersey.

Bravo-shaped bubbles, complete with actual housewives phrases, was a festive and funny banner above the dessert table and bar. The things they say….

The lingerie hung neatly against the glass walls between two purple Poms {with a gorgeous backdrop of the Rocky Mountains}. Later in the evening, Jodi had to guess which lingerie was from who ~ if she got it right, the gift giver had to drink, if she guessed wrong, she had to drink. Fun game and sassy lingerie to enjoy for her honeymoon.

stay tuned for more fabulous details you MUST see in part 2…

lookin’ forward to the hangover

This week, the ladies are preparing outfits, decor ideas and cocktails for my Bachelorette party while the boys are preparing their livers for Drew’s Bachelor party in Vegas.

I can only imagine how crazy it’s going to get in Vegas… You would think that the fact that my dad is going might make me feel better… but at my brother-in-law’s Bachelor party, my dad “put the boys to bed” as he puts it. While the 25-year-olds were asleep, my dad was still in party mode and drinking at 7am, and proceeded to work out at 8am. I think it’s safe to say that they’re going to have one hell of a time!

Drew recalls one of his friends saying, “I just booked my plane ticket to Vegas. Now let’s make The Hangover look like a Disney movie.”

{sigh} … ohh great.

And so, it is only fitting that I share these party photos from Hostess for the Mostess, inspired from The Hangover. Absolutely hilarious and perfect for a Vegas-themed party.

Necessities from the groom for the trip:

Under Armor duffle bags from Drew

Royal Flush from Fleur de Lis {a necessity for the hotel bathroom for all the guys!}

Oh My Goodness! Down & Dirty Hand Sanitizer from Fleur de Lis {need I say why?}

Chaser {the over-the-counter hangover found at local drugstores}

Hasta la vista, boys! Enjoy Vegas!

As for my Bachelorette party tomorrow night, I will give you a clue: inspiration from a popular TV show, animal print & bling!

{Pictures to be posted soon!}
