Valentine’s Day is still a month away, but we’re in the mood for love. And we’ve been struck by the cutest bow and arrow ever!

If you’re opting for a non-candy Valentine, or want to play cupid on February 14, this is the arrow for you.

Materials Needed

How To Create Our Crayola Love Struck Arrow:

  1. Fill the silicone tray with old or new bits of crayons to the top.
  2. Bake at 250 degrees for 13 minutes. Once the tray cools a bit, place in freezer for 5-10 minutes. The hearts should pop right out.
  3. Use a drill to drill a small hole in the top-middle part of the heart, so the tip of the pencil fits into the heart similar to a pencil sharpener. Don’t drill the hole too big, but if it’s not fitting just right, add some glue to the tip of the pencil and insert.
  4. For the end of the arrow, cut felt and either glue the two pieces together or if you use sticker felt like us, just press the two pieces together, sandwiching the pencil.

If you want to package for classmates or a friend, place the arrow in a thin cellophane bag and seal with washi tape.

you donut how much i love you

donut printables_jsorelle

I plan to make the first day of the school year special with lots of photos, love, hugs, kisses..and donuts. Who doesn’t have a good day that starts off with a donut and love? And, we have a free printable for you too from Fleur de Lis! You can find it here. And, not just for the first day of school – for anyone you love, on any day of the week. Yay! Donuts for everyone.

I hope the rare goodness of chocolate and sprinkles before 8 am brings a smile to my kids faces’ and eases my kindergartener’s ‘first day of school’ anxiety. Heck, I think I need 10 donuts to ease my anxiety for the first day. Bring on the chocolate glazed donut for mama!

You can either print the printable directly on a white bag from Target like I did. Or, print and cut, then attach to a bag with a clothes pin.

DIY Twig Cupid’s Arrow on Valentine’s Day

twig cupids arrow
I just couldn’t help myself with this post today – this project was too darn cute not to share. Today, my kids shared their Valentine’s with friends at school and I LOVED what their wonderful, amazing teacher created – twig arrow’s {she also attached pencils to the twigs for each of the kids}. So, I know it’s last-minute with Valentine’s Day being 2 days away, but it’s TOTALLY doable and adorable. Your kids will love to make and their friends will love to receive. Hope you, or someone you love, gets hit by Cupid’s {DIY} arrow this Valentine’s Day.

Thanks, Dee Dee!

All You Need Is:
twigs {free from outside}
felt scraps
scissors
craft glue or hot glue
twine or ribbon to hang a tag

Cut the felt into two triangles for the tip of the arrow. Cut the other felt pieces in the shape of the feathers.
For the tip, place one piece of felt on the bottom, add the twig in the middle of the felt and add some glue around the twig. Press down on the top piece of felt, so it adheres to the bottom piece of felt and keeps the twig tightly in between.
Repeat for the ‘feathers’.
Once the feathers are glued, use a pair of scissors to cut diagonal lines to create the ‘feather’ effect.

We printed the printables on card stock at home. As far as the cutest marshmallow we’ve ever seen – the heart-shaped one – we used a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut a JetPuffed StackerMallow. Then, add the other s’more accessories, the graham cracker and chocolate, in the cellophane bag. Seal the bag and label with a stapler or punch two small holes through the bag and label, and tie red and white striped twine through, then make a bow. Friends and family are sure to love the classic treat.

Dates, Chocolate and Espresso Dessert and Recipe

Here’s a side note before I get into the chocolate goodness treat of the day – we are going through a fun revamp right now behind the scenes. All good, and really exciting news for our blog and business – it’s just taking all our non-existing free time, so thanks for hanging with us, and our lack of posts.

Now, back to food.

So, I thought I ate moderately healthy. As I learn more, I continue to eat healthier and I really try, but I have my good and bad days {the ones where I just want cheese, fries and cinnamon bears}. But, my neighbor {who’s fantastic} eats super healthy. I love it because she always surprises me with her yummy recipes and their ‘vegan’ ingredients. She made me some Fudge Babies for Christmas, and I couldn’t stop eating them…and now I can’t stop re-creating them for myself.

I’ve revamped the recipe from Chocolate Covered Katie and make it weekly. It’s so easy – 6 ingredients, no-bake, dairy-free and gluten-free! Don’t get me wrong – dates still have sugar, but its not refined sugar. And, this makes the perfect treat that satisfies my cravings. My kids LOVE, LOVE them too – I make them some without espresso.

I couldn’t resist shaping them into hearts with the upcoming Valentine’s Day holiday.

Espresso and Chocolate Bites
Recipe adapted from Chocolate Covered Katie

Ingredients
1 cup walnuts
1.5 cups pitted dates {if the mixture feels too dry and doesn’t ‘stick’ together well, add more dates, up to 1 and ¾ cups pitted dates total}
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 tsp. ground espresso
A dash of sea salt
4 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder

How To
Blend all the ingredients together using a blender or food processor.
Line a loaf pan or small Pyrex with wax paper {this recipe fills a loaf pan and makes semi-thick bars. If you choose to use a small Pyrex, smaller than 9×13, it will fill about ¾ of it}.
Pour blended mixture into pan and press until flat with a spoon or spatula. It should be about 2 inches in thickness.
Cover with the sides of the wax paper and place in the freezer {it’s best when refrigerated or fresh out of the freezer}.
If you want to get festive like I did, use a heart shaped cookie cutter once the blended dates have been in freezer at least 2-3 hours. And, top with a toothpick decorated with a DIY washy tape flag.
Note: If you want to serve these for a party, make them ahead of time, and use your cookie cutter to shape them. Then place in freezer safe bag or container, and then bust them out once its time for desert.

Enjoy! It’s such a treat. I hope you make for a loved one this Valentine’s Day.
