his and hers.

Let’s face it, when we get married we become a Mr. or Mrs and things become his and hers. Why not celebrate it with fabulous gifts to give the newly engaged couple, or the newly married couple?

kate and drew

Once the wedding is over, the wedding dress is left at home to be cleaned, then put away for safe keeping, right? Not all the time, as talented photographers Nate and Jenna from Nate and Jenna Photography show us on Po’olenalena Beach in Maui, Hawaii.

Beautiful newlywed couple, Kate and Drew, brought their wedding attire along on their Maui honeymoon for a sunset bridal session on the beach. If you’re not going to get married on the beach, might as well wear your dress on the beach and get some beautiful photos of it! We think its brilliant! Thanks for sharing Nate and Jenna. And, congrats Kate and Drew!

sweet succulent love

My latest obsession is succulents. Oh my goodness, I love them. And, they are everywhere – from the latest issue of Better Homes and Gardens and real weddings featured in bridal magazines, to their latest debut – my dining room! I am so into them right now. Experts tell me they are easy to maintain – let’s hope so for the sake of my newly planted succulent garden.

Succulents have been popular in floral decor at weddings for a couple of seasons now, and they continue to thrive. I love the variety of succulents and the texture they bring into floral centerpieces.

Look at these gorgeous bouquets. From the bride to her maids, succulents ‘complete’ the look of these bouquets. Who knew a ‘cactus plant’ would look so good next to a pink peony?

I’m trying to find a reason to throw a party just to give away a succulent favor. These make wonderful gifts for friends and family, they are an easy and affordable DIY and make a lovely table display before guests take them home.

A cake that combines Succulents and Chevron… I’m in love.

Last but not least, a DIY Succulent Table by Far Out Flora. I love that Succulents remain a permanent centerpiece.

before and after

We have a seriously gorgeous feature for you of before and after wedding decor photos {we have more in the coming weeks, so stay tuned for more eye candy}. You will see the “before and after” images of a ballroom or tent before Denver-based Rodd Metcalf and his premier event team at LMD Productions Inc. arrive to make an ordinary space extraordinary.

I’ve had the privilege of working with Rodd on several events, and he and his staff are phenomenal and a joy to work with.

Today’s tent before & after feature are WOW photos, so be ready to be amazed.

Here’s a little background for you: The bride originally wanted a Hunt Club Design. It morphed beautifully into an old English style décor with warm hues of light. This event took 7 days to set up and 3 days to teardown…and it took 4 generators to power this event.

In Rodd’s words: ” This was a very challenging event.  It was very successful with a great response from the client and guests.  Overall I enjoyed it and would welcome an event of this magnitude again.  Let’s hear it for lighting, fabric and flowers!”

will you be my bridesmaid?

I am so the type of woman that makes something bigger than it needs to be. Instead of asking a simple question/favor of someone or buying a lovely gift, I obsess about the perfect gift or the most unique and elaborate way to ask a question. For me, it’s about taking that extra step to make something cute and memorable. It doesn’t have to be super elaborate or expensive – just personal and creative!

A perfect example is asking a friend to be a bridesmaid. It’s an honor to stand next to a dear friend on her wedding day and it’s a big commitment, so it’s an important question to ask. There’s nothing wrong with asking a girlfriend to be in your wedding face to face or with a simple card. But, I love the idea of taking it a step further…

Here are some adorable ways you can impress your maids {the first one is my new fave}…
