do the polka

I am a polka dot girl through and through. Always have been. So, it’s no surprise I’m loving all the dots popping up this season. Seriously, I could’ve shopped for hours and posted hundreds of pics of polka dot fashion finds.

I’m totally smitten with the dress on the runway model above…not only is it gorgeous, but I LOVE the name Luca {obsessed…and still trying to convince my hubby to name a child Luca}, so being that the designer is Luca Luca, I love it even more! Maybe I can tell Tommy – if you’re not going to compromise and let me name one of our kids Luca, at least let me buy some pieces from the Luca Luca Collection! Think it will work?? I’ll work on it…

Tiny Pies for Everyone

Tiny Pies tiny, homemade pies are as good as grandma’s family recipe and so adorable. It’s an original pie, just shrunk in size. Seriously, I can’t get over their cuteness.

Tiny Pies originated from a mom and daughter team in Austin, TX. Tiny’s Tiny Pies are made from old family recipes with the highest quality all-natural ingredients, and when possible, sourced from local farmers markets.

I think they would make for a lovely housewarming gift, corporate gift and party or wedding favor. If you don’t have a sweet tooth, they offer delicious savory tiny pies too!

Visit Tiny Pies to learn where/how you can order.

Country Vintage Wedding

Goin’ to the chapel {or backyard} and we’re gonna get married

Jordan and Justin had a simple, rustic, backyard country wedding in May 2012.
Married on a perfectly sunny day at the groom’s farm in Oklahoma, this couple went 100% country!

Belt buckles & guns, horses & haystacks … I am loving every bit!

Kids Carnival Party Ideas

Jennings King Photography captured this colorful, carnival themed birthday party in Meggett, South Carolina.

Thank you, Alison, for sharing your fun DIY party details with us!

Thankfully, I come from a DIY family! My mom and my aunt made all of my ideas come to life.We went with vibrant carnival colors – red, aqua and yellow. We had a carnival game room for the kids to win tickets and pick out prizes. Most of the games only cost us a few dollars to put together – using colorful wrapping paper and soda bottles for the ‘Straight Shot” and “Ring Toss” and we painted an ocean scene on a sheet for “Go Fishing”. The kids had a blast winning their tickets and left with their bags full of prizes, mostly from the Dollar Tree, Oriental Trading and Party City.

Games, prizes, popcorn, cotton candy, balloon animals, pony rides, a jumping castle – we wanted it all!

In lieu of gifts, we asked for donations to our local Ronald McDonald House and we were able to raise $710.00 for their charity! I ordered personalized fortune cookies that we hand dipped in two types of chocolate and then rolled in sprinkles…inside each cookie was a Thank You message for their donations.

‘Carnaval De Emery’ was a huge hit!

splurge vs. steal

I love back to school shopping – in fact it was one of my favorite things to do with my mom and sister’s before starting school in the fall. Everyone loves a good deal, so today we’re sharing some hot finds for the fall at a fraction of the designer cost. Happy shopping.

That polka dot sweater is SO calling my name.
