baby brewing

With all the wonderful baby news going on around my life these days, I thought I’d make a fun and creative way for people to tell their friends and loved ones they are expecting. Super easy and if a preggo mama can’t drink coffee, someone else might as well enjoy it, right?

I worked with Jenna {of course} at Fleur de Lis, a paperie to create custom tags with the baby news, cut them out and used double-sided duct tape to adhere to coffee sleeves. If you are sharing the news in person, the sleeve would be adorable on an actual cup with coffee or a Starbucks VIA Ready Brew inside. If you are sending via mail and want to save some $ on shipping, you can just use the double-sided tape to attach the Starbucks VIA Ready Brew inside the sleeve.

Order a custom baby brewing tag from our Etsy store, Fleur de Lis, a paperie today. $7 for a custom file. Click here to order and start sharing your happy baby news.

my funny valentine

We’ve bought boxed Valentine’s in year’s past, but this year we got creative with our words. Some are healthy and others are not, but they are all adorable, and for Valentine’s Day, that’s all that really matters, right? We have cutesy kid-and-adult-friendly DIY Valentine’s for…all the hot mama’s, the stud{s} in your life, all the cutie’s and for those who make you giggle! You can buy them here for just $3, and they are an instant download.

Poppy-seed Muffin Recipe

recipe adapted from our wonderful mom

Add the following ingredients to a large bowl and mix:
2 cups flour
1/8 cup poppy seeds {a used a little more, but less than 1/4 cup}
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp baking soda
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter

Add 2 eggs{1 at a time} to the above ingredients and mix well

Add 1 cup plain yogurt and 2 tsp. almond extract and mix into the rest of the mixture.

Put the muffin mixture in baking cups and bake in the oven on 400 degrees for about 15-20 minutes {It took me about 18 minutes}.

{fill the bag with laffy taffy for your silly friends, fold the custom tag over the bag and staple closed}

Last year’s fold-over labels {above} were so popular, we revamped them, and we did it with colorful stripes.

you are my sunshine

You are my sunshine, my only sunshine
You make me happy when skies are gray
You’ll never know dear, how much I love you
Please don’t take my sunshine away

My mom and I sing this to my kids all the time. My daughter particularly loves it ~ her eyes light up when she hears it, and when the song is over she always asks for more.

It’s a meaningful song to me, so I brought it to life with my inspiration board today. Hope it brings a little sunshine to your winter day…and I think it’s a sweet spin on Valentine’s Day for your loved one {make your Valentine feel like he/she is the sunshine of your life}.

I’ll leave you with a cupcake recipe that looks like it tastes as refreshing, yummy and sweet as sunshine. It makes me wish summer was here.

styled shoot at cordillera

Frosted trees. White snow. Colorado’s natural beauty.
There’s definitely something to be said about love in the Rocky Mountains…

This styled shoot at The Lodge and Spa at Cordillera from fun and fabulous Colorado Wedding Photographers, Chris and Adrienne Scott Photography, will definitely have you feelin’ the love.

From Sarah, the stylist and coordinator of the shoot … My inspiration came from my pink rose silk scarf that kept me warm (during a visit to starbucks on a cold Colorado day) and a pinecone I found in my front yard. Though they are two different textures, colors, and tangible objects, I wanted to see the two come together in an elegant fashion. Because I live in Colorado, I wanted to take advantage of a mountain vendor [The Lodge and Spa at Cordillera] that allowed me to use my creativity and bring my idea to life. The overall look that I was going for was soft elegance meets the mountains. I was risking a lot due to the changing Colorado weather, but it turned out beautiful and the models were fantastic – despite the inch of snow that fell the night before!

This was me and my hubby’s very first styled shoot {I mean, who wouldn’t want to wear a wedding dress again?!}
What a great, fun and freezing experience it was! Enjoy 🙂
