all you need is love

I always love when my beautiful friend Leigh calls me and says, “Jenna, I have a party idea … can you help me with invites, favors, and water bottle labels?!?” I love getting calls like this! Especially from Leigh, because I know when she throws a party, she does it right to the very last detail, and she does a beautiful job. It is so fun for me to be creative and help people plan a party with the papers they need to make it happen.
From the party planner and bride’s friend, Leigh:
Rachel and I have been best friends since our sophomore year of high school, so I was truly honored to host her shower, with the help of Liz and Kisa, and be a part of her upcoming wedding day. Since Rachel’s shower was only 2 days after valentine’s day, February 16, I thought I would do an ‘all you need is love’ theme for her.
We used design and paper from Fleur de Lis for the invite, water bottle labels, candy bag labels, gift bags (I had a ‘ring scratch’ game, and the 3 people who won received a bag from Fleur de Lis filled with napkins and a candle.
Guests enjoyed strawberry punch in mason jars, a mimosa bar (I didn’t take photos of that…ugh!), and brunch. I had each guest fill out the card about Rachel and  put them all in a book and presented it to her at the end of the shower. I ordered all her engagement photos for the shower and used frames from Michael’s and placed them throughout the house. Obviously, the candy station was the most fun.

Love Art Print and Gifts for the Home

all around.

It’s February, so naturally LOVE is on my mind.

The truth is, I love Valentine’s Day. I know, I know, it’s overdone and commercialized like most of the holidays in this country. It’s not necessarily the holiday I love, but I love the idea of celebrating love. I am, and always have been, the eternal optimist and believer of true love.

I love being in love {tommy, love of my life}. I love loving other people.  I love my family and my friends. I love the way being in love feels. I’m the hopeless romantic that believes even if you haven’t found the right person, or even if your heart has been broken one too many times, you can still find love. And, if not with another person, with yourself. You have to love yourself first before you can love someone else. And, when you love yourself, the world opens up and there is endless opportunity to share your love and gifts with others.

I promise I won’t preach about LOVE everyday this month…but today, I just couldn’t help myself! In celebration of my obsession with love, I’m sharing {and have asked my sisters to share as well} a couple of our favorite movie scenes. We hope you take some time to enjoy a little ‘love’ today.

What’s your favorite movie scene about love?? We’d love to hear it.

This scene is from one of my favorite movies {the list is long}, Love Actually.

And who could forget this scene from Sex and the City the movie, one of Jodi’s favorite’s.

And, Jenna happily shared her favorite clip from her favorite movie, Breakfast at Tiffany’s.

We’re going to leave you with one of our all time favorite quotes about love by William Parrish {Meet Joe Black}…and it’s available here in our etsy store, Fleur de Lis, a paperie. I’m going to add it to my Valentine’s Day-themed mantle {which I’m going to share with you this week}.

salute 2013

New Year’s Eve is almost here…and it’s time to bust out the bubbly. Our personal favorite is Prosecco. This year, try to find a way to infuse ‘bubbly’ into at least one {if not all} aspects of your party. We’ve gathered a few last-minute ‘bubbly’ ideas for your celebration.

Grey and Pink Summer Wedding

In high school, I never imagined Shannon, my BFF, would be celebrating her marriage at her family’s home {which I once considered my second home in my teenage years} in the midst of tennis lessons, sleepovers, prom pictures and parties. I did, however, imagine {and knew}, she would marry her high school love, Bryan.

These two met so young, but grew as individuals and a couple throughout the years, traveled the world, made long distance work and waited until the time was right for them…and their wedding day was so magical.

I was lucky enough to stand by Shannon’s side as her maid of honor for her summer wedding. She planned a clean, modern and elegant wedding that was simply stunning…and so much fun for the nearly 300 guests.

The reception at Shannon’s parents home was the perfect setting. The fountain lit in pink and purple lights made for a grandiose entrance, the white draped, and carpeted tent was absolutely gorgeous, the color scheme of white, bright fuchsia and purple, and grey was eye-catching and sparkling crystal chandeliers were timeless and glamorous. Not to mention the beautiful Irish couple radiating love…and partying all night long {at their own barn-turned-Irish Pub post reception party}

Shannon and Bryan made their wedding day their own, and I was so honored to be a part of it…and share it with you today. Enjoy.

Yes, I was a nervous wreck for my MOH speech. Yes, I cried.

And, yes, I made them cry too.

The Best Men {brothers of the groom} followed my act, and were fantastic – both funny and emotional.

Mustache and Bows Baby Shower

So sorry for the lack in posts…it’s all for good reason, we promise. Jodi welcomed a sweet baby girl two weeks earlier than expected. She is so beautiful, and we are so blessed!  Mom and baby are fantastic…dad too! 🙂

Speaking of adorable new babies, Kristen, just had a lovely baby shower that we’re so happy to share with all of you…thanks to wonderful pics by Meredith of Meredith Moran Photography.

From Casidy of Meohmy Design: “Since we didn’t know the gender of Baby Abell we wanted to come up with a fun and cute theme that’s a little different than the normal grey and yellow. We used mustaches + bows as our starting point and created the shower around that. We kept the color scheme mostly neutral (whites and greys) but added in the color pop through the mustache and bow details…straws, food cards, etc. Instead of playing traditional shower games, we wanted to leave Baby Abell with warm wishes; a cool and unique keepsake for the parents and for the child as he/she grows up. Favors sometimes get tricky but we didn’t want the guests to leave empty-handed. So, we kept within our theme and made little stickers saying “Kristen’s about to pop” that were stuck onto bags full of sweet kettle corn.”
