Fall Recipes to Try

I was watching The Today Show last week, and saw these great fall ideas! From decor ideas to cocktail recipes – yum! The recipes for the Spiced Pumpkin Seeds and Apple Rum Spritzer can be found below. The flower pumpkin centerpieces can be made as simple as hot gluing real (or fake) flowers onto any sized pumpkin. And the candy corn tree just as easily is made from hot gluing candy corn to tree branches. Put foam into a vase and stick the branches in. Cover the foam with stacked candy corn. It’s that easy!

steal vs. splurge {bag}

I am loving the steal vs. splurge idea new to our blog! And more importantly, we hope you are enjoying it too.

Our steal vs. splurge this week is 100% bag-ulous. We love Longchamp tote bags – they are great for school bags, business bags, travel bags, and even diaper bags. You can find Longchamp at all the great department stores such as Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, etc for anywhere from $125-$500. New at Fleur de Lis we have look-a-like bags, and can be ordered with your monogram for only $90! These bags are versatile for every age and every lifestyle, and are available in every color of the rainbow. We also have matching (and monogram-able) make up bags. Great gift idea for holiday, graduation, teachers gifts, sororities, baby bags … and any occasion!

Tangerine and Teal Party Ideas

I was thrilled to be asked by the fabulous planner, Melissa Nemitz at Tiny Bubbles Wedding and Event Design, to be a part of this style shoot and design and print the paperware. At Fleur de Lis we enjoyed coming up with something modern with a chevron design for the invitations, save the date, escort card flags, and ordering the cute bubble gum favors. As I always say, invitations set the tone for a wedding day (and any occasion!), so it was fun to see the whole package come together for this shoot. I love the color combination of tangerine and teal because it is modern, colorful, and different. What a FANTASTIC group of vendors, and what a beautiful shoot at this beautiful Boulder, Colorado location!
For your chevron lovers, we have this collection at our etsy store – the save the date, and the invite.
From the planner:
This wedding styled shoot was photographed in the beautiful surroundings of the flatirons of Boulder, Colorado, at Historic Chautauqua Park. The combination of the mountains, foliage, and historic cottages made for the perfect backdrop for an outdoor shoot. The shoot was inspired by tangerine, the new “it” color of 2012, with accents of teal, and a bit of whimsy with a white vintage gumball machine, striped paper straws, and rock candy. Add a gorgeous bride with an elegant Pronovias dress, and we ended up with some incredible shots!

navy chevron {baby shower}

Not only was I honored to design and print invitations for this baby shower at Fleur de Lis, but I was even more honored to attend this special baby shower for my dear friend Leigh (an absolutely gorgeous preggo woman!) who is expecting her first baby in November. The shower was hosted by Lauren, also a beauty and good friend, and her sweet mother Dana.

This baby shower celebrated the joy felt for Leigh by her friends and family, and created the perfect vision for little baby boy Harkness’ nautical navy room. The chevron invitation and decor were so adorable, with splashes of yellow and nautical motifs – so bright, happy, and stylish! Every detail was perfect – the blueberries in the champagne, the navy and yellow chevron banners, the lemonade and blueberry cupcakes. Lauren also treated everyone to chevron-wrapped shower favors, and a fun bingo game. Guess what the mommy-to-be was going to receive for gifts, check off as she opened gifts, and win on the bingo board! Another special touch was the wishing tree. Guests filled out a wishing card for baby Henry and hung them on a tree. We can’t wait to meet the little cutie! Great job planning this shower Lauren! And we are so happy for you Leigh! xoxo

bonjour ombre

Bonjour ombre! This is a hair trend that I am dying {no pun intended!} to do to my own hair. It is daring, but not too crazy “out there”. I first fell in love with this hairstyle with our beloved Carrie Bradshaw on Sex and the City. SJP pulled it off in the last season of the series.

Ombre hair has darker roots, and gradually gets lighter down to the hair ends. Typically I see this with longer hair and darker hair color, but you can pull this off with any color hair! Great hair color maintenance – the look is overgrown roots so you don’t have to keep dying your hair so often. This look is also great because the dye job doesn’t have to be perfect – it is supposed to be messy, imperfect, uneven color. Ready, set … ombre!
