Frozen Party and How to Train Your Dragon Party

fire and ice party_jsorelle

The obsession this year for my kiddos was of course, Frozen, and How To Train Your Dragon. So, for this year’s birthday bash, Fire and Ice seemed quite appropriate. Family and friends joined us as we celebrated the lives of our three beautiful children, who are the joy of our lives…and growing up too fast. More DIY’s to come, but for today, the photos.

Frozen Ideas

  • Activity for the girls after swimming was making their own ice bracelets with ‘ice crystals’ or clear beads. I wish I could take credit for this idea. Paging Supermom was the inspiration behind this.
  • Decorations included a DIY fringe North Mountain backdrop, spray-painted white branches with sparkly silver snowflakes hanging and custom water bottle labels by Fleur de Lis.
  • The cake was also the vision of Paging Supermom – y’all are good! It was the hit of the day for my daughter and her friends, and it was super easy to do the morning of the party.
  • Favors for the girls were sequins crowns from Jo-Ann’s, Frozen puzzles from the dollar section at Target, a girly ring and a Frozen cd we made with 5 of the hit movie’s songs on it.

How To Train Your Dragon Ideas

  • Activity after swimming was sword fighting with their new DIY shields and swords.
  • Decorations included a toothless face backdrop, dragons, Dragon hats courtesy of Michaels {Bry, the manager at the River Point Parkway location was amazing}, custom water bottle labels by Fleur de Lis, DIY Sharpie balloons and Rice Krispy treats with added wings {Krispy Wings}
  • Favors for the boys included DIY shields and swords {from Target}, Michaels Dragon hats we assembled and DIY Book of Dragons with a photo and information about each Dragon.

If your interested in either of the backdrops, email me because I don’t need them anymore. They are large pieces of wood covered in felt and tissue paper.

Sparkle Bridal Shower and Bachelorette Party

OK, so maybe I jinxed our weather by adding, “throw some glitter make it rain,” to the shower invitation {as it rained the entire evening of our festivities}, but the shower/bachelorette weekend was still a blast and time spent with the ladies was rejuvenating.

Lovely shower details included homemade Margarita’s so appropriately titled, Kimbaritas {after the bride, Kimi}, homemade appetizers, stiletto cupcakes, custom water bottles, CD favors and a kissing/lipstick activity {amongst others} that created pretty artwork for the bride to keep.

And sparkly bachelorette details included DIY sequins menu {sold here}, a gold sequins runner, DIY ribbon chair covers/decor and nail polish favors and place cards for each guest.

The pretty invite by Jenna at Fleur de Lis set the tone for a fabulous, sparkly party. Now available here.

DIY Glitter Menu

I am just in love with this menu Jenna from Fleur de Lis made for our recent Bachelorette Bash for Kimi. All photos of the party {thanks to the talented photographer and bridesmaid Amy Forness Photo} to come. Wouldn’t eating be more fun and just overall fabulous if we all had sequins menus like this for every meal?

Jenna printed the menus, then I used Elmer’s Craft Glue to glue sequins to each menu…sequins starting heavy in the corner, then scattered. If you need a menu like this in the future, e-mail us at hello@jsorelle.com. We can do it for you.

How to Create a Black, White and Gold Glitter Bar

Here’s one of the details from our Sparkle from Head to Toe photo shoot we told you about Fri {the one featured on Hostess with the Mostess}.

We created the perfect party for women to kick off the holiday season and really SHINE. The sparkle party gave women a chance to gossip with friends over cocktails and cookies, try on and shop for jewelry by local artists, and paint their nails at a OPI nail painting station. Women deserve to Sparkle from Head to Toe…and this party let them do just that!

As you know, every good party needs a bar. With a small space, and a tight budget, we created a DIY bar from a tray. It’s a great accessory for any holiday party, bachelorette party, birthday party, or just a night with the ladies. Here’s how you can do it too.

DIY Black and White Striped Bar Tray

You’ll Need
Tray
Paint
Paint brushes
Painters tape
Wood letter from your local WalMart, Hobby Lobby or Michaels
Gold Glitter Spray Paint

How To
Clean and sand the tray if necessary.
Spray paint the whole tray with white primer.
Once primer is dry, paint entire tray white. Repeat once for two coats.
Add Painter’s Tape where you want stripes. My tray had the perfect lines carved into it, so I just lined the tape up with those.
Paint the non-taped parts black. I used a brush to paint for more control, instead of spray paint. Repeat for a total of 2 coats.
After 24 hours, pull the tape from the tray.
If you have any touch ups to do, use a small brush and paint to fix.
For the letters, it’s best to use the primer to spray paint so you don’t see the wood grain under the glitter.
Once the primer is dry, spray paint with glitter spray paint.
Accessorize the bar with champagne, Izze drinks and fresh fruit.

Labels printed and sparkled by FLEUR DE LIS, custom paperie.
