ikea hacks

So, they are called Ikea Hacks. When a talented individual sees potential with a low-priced item from Ikea, they purchase, customize with a fabulous embellishment or full transformation with their DIY ideas – and that’s an Ikea Hack. Yes, there is even a site dedicated to Ikea Hacks – Ikea Hackers. Definitely check it out.

When I see some transformations – and I mean these are some transformations – from Ikea furniture, I am amazed, and blown away by people’s talent and creativity. I’m beyond impressed with the projects below that make the price tag for their furniture look high-end and unique.

The Ikea Malm Dresser {there are many variations and sizes} makes for a perfect blank slate and with O’verlays, the creativity is endless. Check out all the O’verlays here.

Ikea Lack Table
Lacquer and Linen made a beautiful transformation. For tutorial, visit here.

Little Green Notebook turned Ikea’s Vika Table into a glamorous white and gold workspace. Tutorial can be found at White and Gold Design.

Centsational Girl always amazes me with her keen eye for home style and she totally impressed me with this upgrade of the Besta, Billy and Brass Bookcases from Ikea.

Ikea Hackers featured the Expedit Bookshelf in a unique and rustic way. Directions here.

House and Home Ikea Tarva Dresser makeover is bright, colorful and we love the ombre effect.

i do tunes

I know every time I hear, Have I Told You Lately by Van Morrison, my eyes fill up with tears. It’s the song my dad and I danced to on my wedding day. Such a special moment for me.

I also know every time Jenna hears Tupalo Honey by Van Morrison, her eyes fill up with tears because she danced with our dad to that amazing song on her wedding day.

And, I know every time Jodi hears In My Daughter’s Eyes by Martina McBride, her eyes fill up with tears too. She and our dad danced to the emotional song on her wedding day.

We all have special moments in our lives that we remember for one reason or another, and it’s wonderful when we have a song that brings us back to that moment in time.

The list of wedding songs is endless, but we have some new faves that we suggest brides add to their wedding day playlist…and if you are not married, already been married or not planning on getting married anytime soon…you should listen to the songs too. They are too pretty not to.

Enjoy.

Laura Murray Photography, an incredibly talented photographer based in Colorado, played two big roles in this stunning wedding. Not only was she the bride’s sister and maid of honor, she was also one of the photographers {2nd photographer was talented Sara Hasstedt} responsible for capturing the beauty and emotion of the day. Job well done Laura. The setting is breathtaking, the details are lovely and the bride and groom radiate with pure joy. Thanks for sharing this charming mountain wedding with us Laura Murray.

One of the trends this year is inspired by those buzzing honey makers…and their honeycomb shaped hive. I have to say, I like it. I first fell for the ‘look’ when working with the fabulous ladies of Eclectic Hive. And, I’m an avid Project Runway fan, and I love what they did with the workroom this year – have you noticed the colorful honeycomb pattern on the walls? I love.

Today, after seeing the inspiration below, maybe you will fall for the honey too?!

Mandi at Vintage Revivals is REALLY talented and wows with this honeycomb, colorful wall. See how she did it here.

VosgesParis shares a unique, industrial white home with a very interesting floor – it’s worth checking out.

Add some honeycomb to any space with these beautiful West Elm vases.

We love these honeycomb shaped mirrors from Ikea, and for just $15, we love even more. Just think of the potential. The Curious Reserve has some wonderful ideas.

I want to go to this sweet party found at Sweetopia.

Buzz your way through the kitchen with this Nordic Ware Honeycomb Cake Pan from Williams-Sonoma.

These DIY modern honeycomb shelves impress and make a statement. Find out how to make at A Beautiful Mess.

The Every Last Detail featured a charming and beautiful honeycomb-inspired wedding. Very creative – you must see the rest of it here.

Here’s some more event inspiration from the ladies at Eclectic Hive. So pretty. Check out more gorgeousness from their opening house here.
