Country Wedding with Sunflowers, part 1

After a little over a year, I am so excited to finally post my own wedding on Tutto Bella! I hope you enjoy 🙂

I met the man of my dreams when I was only 15. Exactly six years after he asked me to be his girlfriend, he asked me to be his wife.

We tied the knot on September 3, 2011 in front of 220 of our closest friends and family at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in downtown Denver.

 Lanterns lined the aisle in one of Denver’s most beautiful and oldest churches.

I was so in love with our programs. Stephanie from HuberArt on Etsy sketched the church where we were getting married, and Tutto Bella’s own, Jenna, owner of Fleur de Lis, a paperie, created this one-of-a-kind program. It was perfectly classic and timeless.

For my ‘something blue’, my mom had a rosary custom made in sapphire, my birthstone. It was so beautiful, and I loved how Cori attached it to my bouquet.

My nephew, Jameson, pulled my niece, Gabriella, down the aisle in a rustic wood wagon with a sign on the back saying, “here comes the bride”. They captured everyone’s attention with their sweet and innocent smiles before my dad and I walked down.

DIY burlap bags were handed out to each guest after leaving the church. Inside each bag contained “The Perfect Mix” of butterscotch trail mix (our favorite!), “Happy Trails” direction cards to the reception venue and custom photo water bottle labels.

I was at a total loss for words when I saw my bouquet for the first time. It was exactly how I envisioned it and more. The intricate detail that Cori put into creating it for me was absolutely amazing! Thank you, Cori, for making the bouquet of my dreams!

{stay tuned for jodi + drew part 2 tomorrow!}

Pumpkin Cheese Ball Recipe

I just realized that Thanksgiving is almost one week away. For some reason, I thought it was the 29th this year…I’m blaming it on my mommy brain/fog. So, now I am frantically trying to get all my fun and festive Thanksgiving ideas to you throughout the next week – everything from recipes to favors – we hope to share it all in time for this year’s Thanksgiving feast.

Today, an easy and yummy appetizer…and an upgrade from your standard cheese ball.

Pumpkin Cheese Ball
recipe by friend, Bean

Ingredients
16 oz cream cheese
1.5 cup shredded cheddar cheese
3 tablespoons of minced onion
3 tablespoons salsa {whatever kind you prefer}
2 teaspoons ground cumin
2 teaspoons minced jalapeno {canned or fresh}

How To
Combine all ingredients together in a medium bowl.

With your hangs, shape ingredients into a ball.
Crush Nacho chips in a plastic bag and lay out on counter top.

Roll cheese ball in crushed Nacho chips on counter.

Make indentions around the entire cheese ball with a finger to look like a pumpkin.

Cut the stem of a green bell pepper and place on top {to look like the stem of a pumpkin}.

Refrigerate 2 hours before serving.
Serve with either tortilla chips or crackers.

My mommy brain also spaced taking a photo of the app served with its accompanying crackers…mama mia! Use your imagination. All you really need to know is that its cute, delish and super easy.

Breastfeeding Gift for the New Mom

As you know, Jodi is expecting a baby in about a month {I’m so excited, I can hardly stand it}, and we recently celebrated her beautiful baby shower {pics of that cuteness to come soon}. As a mom of 3, I of course have opinions and tips on everything related to ‘baby.’ However, there is one subject that I am very vocal about…breastfeeding. This may be TMI {too much information}, but I’ve had it all – mastitis {breast infection}, engorgement, toe-curling pain, bleeding, constant leaking, inconvenience, etc ALL THREE TIMES. I’ve managed to stick with it for many reasons {6-9 months with the first two and I’m on month number 3 with the 3rd}, but it’s tough. I’m honest about it because everyone I saw breastfeeding as a mom {before I experienced motherhood} made it look so easy and pain-free, and that wasn’t the case for me, so I wanted my sister to be “in the know” about all the things women may not always confess…

Thus is the purpose for my shower gift cleverly presented in a ‘bra-sket” complete with a Bebe au Lait Hooter Hider, cream, nursing pads, a bra filled with a pink and blue ‘boob-balloons’ and a breastfeeding poem written by your truly titled, Boobs…Your Babies Breast Friend. Jodi got a laugh out of it, as did all the women at the shower. After being asked for it several times from other women for upcoming shower gifts, we’ve decided to sell in our etsy store. You can buy it here for your new mom friend…believe me…she will love it.

Jodi is framing her copy because it matches her nursery, it’s chevron and when she’s breastfeeding her baby, it will make her laugh.

If you can’t read the words, please let us know and we will fix it so you can properly read it and laugh!

Lemon and Lime Summer Party

This party not only made us think about our childhood days when we were allowed to drink the soda 7-up, but it made us so happy. This “7-up Lemon Lime” party for Safronia’s 7th birthday is so original, so cheerful and beautifully done. We love the bright yellow and green colors, antique furniture and accessories, unique games, photobooth and all the little DIY details {including the DIY lemonade stand by her dad}. It’s just too cute for words. It looks like a party to remember for Safronia.
